Sage Mechanic on Balance

WSM Shooting Star

Balance:

We are looking for balance in our lives. Balance is different for each person. Being able to accept what is is balance.

Acceptance of what is does not mean that there is no striving for the betterment of self. It means to embrace what is and to see everything from the lighter side of self.

When your meditation is balanced your heart opens - allowing room for more.

Compassion is a strength

You must have both strength and compassion.
It is not good to have one without the other.

Our weaknesses are really our strengths; coming from another direction.

Knowing how to adapt and flow with changes allows you to be relaxed and free. To gather these states of total freedom do not hold any tension. Be Relaxed. This relaxed state will extend to your heart and from there more compassion will flow into your day to day dealings. Live well. Laugh often!

The mind is sharper than any sword. Watch what you think and watch what you say to yourself and to others.

Smiles Lead to Laughter

Smile at all things. Make light of your heavy burdens. Enjoy all that you do. Live well. Laugh often. Laughter is a medicine that cannot be beat. I recommend having a belly laugh right now.

In all things great and small I see the beauty of the divine reflection.

It is not the dying to worry about. It is the living that can make a difference.
Live your life to the fullest. Do not analyze it. Simply cherish life and do the best you can.

Create something new to look forward to.

By virtue of living you are wealthy. No matter what your material standing is.

Don't Worry, Be Happy!

Happiness is a state of being.
Being happy does not mean you need to deny everything else.
Do things that make you happy and agree with yourself.
Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

You know, there is nothing outside of ourselves that has the power to make us happy. For example: If I think, “That cup of coffee over there will make me happy.” And I go over and get it, I may find that I am feeling happy for a while, but then I get bored with it. Now, I think, “Getting a new pair of shoes (like so and so is wearing) would make me happy.” Poof! I have new shoes. After a while I find the ‘external happiness’ fades. I get bored again.

This is temporary happiness only. Permanent happiness comes from within and goes with me where ever I go. So, if you catch yourself saying, “I will really be happy when…” Perhaps stop yourself and say, “I am truly happy now.”

Acceptance of Your Self

Acceptance of oneself translates to acceptance of others.

Tiger Temple in Thailand

Acceptance can put you into a state of happiness. Accept where you are now and continue to improve yourself. Acceptance is not just passive it is also active. It is not what you plan, it is what presents itself.

Accept your confusion to find clarity. Accept yourself for who you are. Accept others for who they are. Not only a sense of contentment comes with acceptance, but a certain amount of radiance happens as well.

Some things in life may present themselves in a way that you have no choice but to accept them. The moment you embrace the ‘something’ then choice comes into play again.

Contentment is the Word of the Day

Word of the day; Contentment:
My heart knows it is enough. I have no expectations. Being comfortable with what one has equals contentment.

What do you think about sharing?
Nothing really belongs to us anyway.

In life we are constantly challenged.
What do we need to cope with the challenges? Faith: Faith in ourselves, faith in our ability to handle the challenges and faith in what we are connected to.

When you get thrown a ‘molehill’ you can choose to create a ‘mountain’ out of it (or not).

Gratitude Offers Abundant Living

I love this acronym: G.O.A.L.
Gratitude
Offers
Abundant
Living

When times are tough it is good to get back to the basics by reminding yourself of the many things in your life for which to be grateful.

Don’t take life for granted. If you look at your life you will see that you really do have all that you need. Appreciate the little things in life. Know that it is the little things you do for others that people appreciate most.

Blessings: If they are not appreciated then they are not blessings. You are a blessing.

Do not take life for granted. Focus on the joy of life right here! For example; “Mmm this is a great cup of tea/coffeeJ

Paul Harvey Wisdom

Paul Harvey Writes:

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse. For my grandchildren, I'd like better.

I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches. I really would.

I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by being cheated.

I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car.
And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.

It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old dog put to sleep.

I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.

I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother/sister. And it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope you let him.

When you want to see a movie and your little brother/sister wants to tag along, I hope you'll let him/her.

I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely.

On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool as your Mom.

If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.

I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.

When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.....

I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a boy/girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what ivory soap tastes like.

May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.

I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it.. And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he is not your friend.

I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandma/Grandpa and go fishing with your Uncle.

May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays.

I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Hanukkah/Christmas time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand.

These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life....

Written with a pen. Sealed with a kiss. I'm here for you. And if I die before you do, I'll go to heaven and wait for you.

We secure our friends, not by accepting favors, but by doing them.

Paul Harvey RIDDLE:

When asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got the answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors.

"What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it, The rich need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?"

The answer to the riddle is "nothing."

Nothing is greater than God.
Nothing is more evil than the Devil.
The poor have nothing.
The rich need nothing.
And if you eat nothing, you'll die.

Sage Corner on Headaches

Polarizing Headaches:
How to lessen or get rid of a headache: A person without the headache rubs their palms together briskly. Then approaches the left side of the seated ‘headache person’; asking them to close their eyes and breathe deeply.
Place the right palm against the base of their neck and the left palm about an inch away from their forehead.
Hold for a minute or two while they are taking deep breaths.

Simply Sage

On Being Simple: Simplicity is one of the hardest lifestyles to attain.
Complicated is easy.
Approach life in a basic manner. If you are cold – put on clothes. If you are tired – sleep. If you are hungry – eat.
Don’t talk about it. Just do it!

Wake Up and Smell the Sage

Human Beings can physically see a great distance, but can find it difficult to see their own faults. So sometimes we get ‘broadsided’ by life with a little ‘wake-up call’.
Hopefully this will help us to stop, assess, learn, and shift things to make ourselves better.

Sage Advice on Anger

Anger: Anger may upset and disappoint you, but do not live from there. Instead live as a ‘bigger’ person by functioning from your heart. It is o.k. to have feelings of anger, frustration, etc. but don’t function from that space. Only you can be the master of yourself.

Laugh with the Sage

A pregnant woman is injured in a car accident and fell into a deep coma.

Asleep for nearly six months, she wakes up and sees that she is no longer pregnant. Frantically, she asks the doctor about her baby. The doctor replies, "Ma'am, you had twins! A boy and a girl. The babies are fine. Your brother came and named them."

The woman thinks to herself, "Oh no, not my brother -- he's an idiot!"

Expecting the worst, she asks the doctor, "Well, what's my girl's name?"

"Denise," the doctor says.

The new mother thinks, "Wow, that's not a bad name! Guess I was wrong about my brother. I like Denise!" Then she asks the doctor, "What's my boy's name?"

The doctor replies, DeNephew.

Sage Corner on Families

Families: Globally Speaking, the entire Human Race is one big family. You are born into your family. You create another family with the community of people you socialize or interact with.
Families love, argue, help, irritate and forgive each other. Work to respect each other.

Sage Corner Sayings: On Decisions

Let’s talk about decisions. Often our intuition will lead us in a direction or give us an important instruction. Then we choose or decide to follow that instruction or not.
At times the decision(s) will seem difficult to make. But once you do make your decision, do not question yourself as to whether it was the right or wrong choice.
There really are no wrong decisions in life. Be at peace with your decision. Take action and know your decision is always the right one.
